I just found out that I will be living in OKC for three months starting in December, in order to train with the FAA. They provide a list of apartments that have agreements with the FAA but give no other information about the areas in which these apartments are located. Because of the short notice, I don't really have time to fly out to OKC and look around myself, so I am hoping that someone can help me out.

The list includes:
Apple Tree Apartments
Brittany Apartments
Citadel Suites
Fairways at Moore
Mansions South
Meridian Mansions
Spanish Gardens
Walnut Gardens
I believe most of these are to the north of the airport, which is where training is held, with Citadel being the farthest north and Fairways being the furthest south.

I will have my car while I am in OKC, so the distance isn't really a factor, though I have heard that traffic getting into the airport first thing in the morning can be kind of crazy and using the south gate may be easier... of course that might just be for the training center.

I'm running like crazy trying to get everything taken care of here, and am grateful for any help anyone can provide!

~Nicole

Have stayed at Walnut Gardens, pretty good neighborhood. Don't know about the others, but some of the neighborhoods are very sketchy.

My husband and I went to OK to look because we are going to be moving out there and we looked at Citadel Suites and it was a very nice place. The apartments are huge and the rooms are real big. It has a fireplace in every apartment as well. It's close to lots of things as well, Target, all kinds of food places and more.

I’m in the same boat. my buddy went through the program a year ago and stayed at Walnut Gardens. He said it was safe. I think its about 34 (single bed) a day with a maid service. My class date is Jan 4. Good Luck!!

Default faa training

Just curious if you found a good location while studying at the academy, and how you like it, my daughter will begin the academy training in april and I am looking for something, safe, clean and comfortable for her. Things there apparently have changed since I was there in 86 for the same.

Thanks to everyone who replied! I am now on my last weekend here in OKC and thought I'd leave some feedback as to what I found while I was out here.

Most students for the Academy seem to stay at Citadel, Meridian Mansons, Spanish Gardens, and Walnut Gardens. A few of my classmates were orginially at Walnut and then chose to move to Meridian, mostly because we found it is better to try to stay in the same place as the majority of your classmates, since you will be spending a lot of time studying together. Citadel, Meridian, and Spanish are all well spoken of and out of those Citadel seems to be the favorite. They have some of the largest apartments, fireplaces, and offer breakfast in the mornings. All three are serviced by the Academy buses and would be good choices for students coming to OKC.

Hope it helps and good luck to everyone!

Hey Nicole,

Most of the apartments you listed are in an area that I would call questionable. You may want to look a little further. I'd like to suggest a complex that's a little further to the north, called Eagle Crest. It used to be condos but was converted into apartments. If you would like more information about them, drop me a line.

What facility will you be locating to? I am a controller at Indy center, my daughter finally got picked for an April date to begin her training, we looked online at Citadel suites, and a few new trainees recommended that location as well. As a very protective mom, yes I still worry, I want her to be in a safe, convenient, clean location.

Washington center, in fact, I just got into Leesburg on Saturday, and start on Monday Feb 26.

Citadel should be a good place for your daughter. I wish her the best of luck in OKC!

Default assignment to facility

Good luck in training, you may talk to me some time or another depending on the area you are sent to. I work in the eastern portion of Indy center and we adjoin washington airspace over summersville, wv, clarksburg, wv(?), etc. My work initials are QS, I am from the south and after 21 years still have a tendency towards an accent. Good luck in your continued training successes. Let me know your operating initials, so I'll go easy on you if I ever hear your coordination. Just a thought......once you hit the platform, sound like you know what your doing even if you don't because the one thing that gives a trainee away is their voice....and sometimes it can be a feeding frenzy. Good luck, stay strong, and check out soon...we need replacements.!!!!!!!!!
