Big time money for huge improvements for OKC passes. This will create parks, 400,000 million for roads and sidewalks and transit!! Way to go voters. Keep on voting to keep OKC steamrolling!!

Wow. While Tulsa squabbles over similar measures for years, OkC keeps on improving things. Is this a significant increase on taxes in the OkC area?

I think it has to do with property taxes. Like I have said before...I believe OKC has a large group of people that make it a priority to go out and vote yes on improvements. It passed by over 75% so something weird is going on. Its probably the richer "shakers and movers" who want more for the city and form some kind of rally to vote. I also tried to vote but couldnt figure out where to go. I heard people were voting by candle light!

It won't raise taxes because it replaces an expiring property tax on something that is already paid off.

I actually was wondering the same....So I assume the tax will just continue. It seems like some OKCITIANS got fooled into paying for something for longer!

Something that is already paid off? What does that mean? I've never heard that uttered in New Jersey. And something won't raise taxes??? The State of New Jersey is almost at a bankruptcy stage, yet our governor was all bent out of shape because in the most recent election the voters voted down a proposition to borrow 20 million dollars to fund Stem Cell Research. It makes me think of the irresponsible individual with horrible credit and barely making ends meet going out to borrow money to buy a $4000 flat screen TV.

This was about bonds and not taxes...After I took the time to read it over!
I think the bonds basically pay for themselves at a later date...Someone should come in here and help explain in detail!!
Many taxes that have passed for quality of life in OKC are usually only a penny sales tax or half a penny. I am personally very happy that people in OKC will give a small bit of change out of their pocket for a higher quality of life. This has led to major success in OKC. Fortunately OKC isnt frugal about changing its image for its citizens.
This bond was needed for major infrastructure improvements. It doesnt parallel to stem cell research which helps science and not someones environment.
Buying a plasma TV when you cant afford it is a bad comparison! This is achieving monumental goals for a society!

However noble the goals are they should not be purchased by a loan that can't be paid back from an almost-bankrupt state.

I am assuming that you are talking about NJ. I have no clue about NJ but Oklahoma is doing pretty well monetarily.
I was reffering to the goals of OKC via taxes and not stem cell research in NJ via taxes. You might want to read my post again.
I would agree with your stance on NJ but it cant be compared to OKCs historical achievements through maps, thread re: bond and future core to shore initiatives.
I think this was miscommunication by both of us.
