Long long ago in a galaxy far far away I got to go there as a teen on multiple occasions. I live out of state and will be in OH on Wed Aug 24 and Thurs Aug 25.

Should be fine, you only have to worry about Fri and Sat, and then only in the evenings, during the day it will be fine. In the evening and into the night, may have some drunken yelling/swearing, youngsters having too much to drink.

That's a Wednesday and Thursday, and kind of late in the season, so no problems whatsoever unless you were hoping for the busiest party scene.

Im not worried about my kids seeing a few drunks. More concerned about extremes and everyone is drunk and acting poorly. The internet often shows the worst of the worst. Saw some videos from 2018 that made the news.

Uh-oh, actually August 24th and 25th is the annual Bash on the Bay. A big concert series at the airport.
If you go, I would definitely pick the 23rd. You may get a lot of people arriving a day early to stay overnight for the concert, but the 24th and 25th will definitely be packed.
Almost any other day I would say you have nothing to worry about, especially if it's just a day trip. Lots of family friendly activities on the island.
Kelleys island might be a better option for the timing of your visit.
