particularly 1 bedroom apartments near kent state?

depending on the distance from the apartment and school, i'm trying to figure out if i will get an apartment or a single dorm. the most i would pay would be between 400-600, so hopefully there would be some affordable 1 bedroom apartments near the school; i'm also concerned about safety.

hopefully i can get a job in my current city and hopefully transfer to the job in kent when i transfer schools. hopefully i'm driving by then too.

It's been a few years since I lived in Kent, but I did live there for several years during undergraduate and graduate school. I hate to tell you this, but unless prices have decreased DRAMATICALLY, you're going to have a really hard time finding anything for that price (outside of maybe a not-very-nice efficiency, although I think even those are out of that price range). The further you get from campus, generally the cheaper the apartments are, but if you're hoping to be within walking distance of the campus, you should probably start looking for a roommate. I think the cheapest place I lived was $525 + electric (and it was all electric) for a one-bedroom apartment about 5-10 minutes from campus (Pinewood Apartments, fyi). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! Hopefully prices have decreased though!!

i checked out pinewood apartments online and if im not mistaken, it consists of studio and 1 bedrooms? if so, that is right up my alley. i would just have to start saving up so i can pay for the other utilities. do you know if they do credit checks and how did you like it there?

i'm thinking about transferring to kent summer 2014 instead of fall 2014, so hopefully there's something vacant by then; i might choose studio since i dont have much.

I lived in University Inn for 1 year.....great location on South Water St. (can walk to most of campus), safe (as everyplace is in Kent...at least when I lived there). Not a wild crowd if that's what you're looking for....a lot of international students....because many of the units are furnished.
