Hi everyone!

I live in Cleveland and I'm longing to move. Don't get me wrong, I have a great appreciation for Cleveland. I just want something simpler.

I have amazing memories from my childhood going to a campground in Lakeville, OH. Farms, cornfields and Amish buggies right down the road. I also remember a distant Aunt and Uncle living in a ranch style home with a huge yard, a forest behind the yard and a farm across the street. Problem is I have no idea WHERE it was or I'd be moving tomorrow lol! Anyway, these are my "ideals".

Now the tricky part... I'm trying to find something no more than 1-1.5 hours from Cleveland. I'd like to stay relatively close to my family. I'm hoping you can help me! I've been doing research for the past two days and haven't come up with much.

Also, can anyone tell me more about Rootstown?

thanks!!

I don't know if maybe it's too close to Cleveland, but have you thought about Chardon at all? It's a nice little, quaint place, but not too isolated or anything. Maybe Middlefield? They've got some Amish around there!

I would say something in Portage, Geagua or Trumbull County would do. I like in a nice small town, but it sounds like you want a more rural area..........

What about where you live Cort? And Canfield? Salem looks nice on the computer.

Maybe they'd like Mineral Springs but I thought it was kind of desolate.

When I was a kid, I spent many summers near Lakeville, at a campground called Whispering Hills in nearby Shreve. I have awesome memories of those summers at that park and at my grandparents house in nearby Loudonville/Mohican area. I have not been back to that area in over 30 years but I imagine it still looks the same.

I worked in Akron and lived in Portage County for about 6 years and I really enjoyed living in the "country" but still being an easy drive to Youngstown and about a 30-minute drive to work in Akron (totally worth it). With I-480, it was an easy drive to Cleveland as well.

Sheena, Cortland is a nice little town, other small towns that I like are McDonald, Canfield, Poland Village, Chardon, Burton, Kinsman, Salem, and Sugar Creek. I know there are more, but I can't think of any right now.

If you could stretch your parameters out to 2 1/2 hours, then Yellow Springs is my favorite!
