Hello there! I just got back from Ocala. I live in NJ with my husband, and we went down to check out the area. He got a job offer while we were down there that pays the same as here in NJ. I am looking into getting hired by the school district of Marion County. We also put a deposit down on a house for rent on a horse farm where we can live with our dogs.
As for teaching in Marion County, is anyone on this site currently employed by the district? What can you tell me about it?
I am scheduled to go to the job fair in June, and I want to move, so I need the job. Getting hired in Marion County is very different than here in NJ. Any hints about preparing for the interview? I looked up potential interview questions online, but I wanted to see if anyone knows of questions that the interviewer will ask that I may not be expecting. I just graduated from college, so I am counting on my interview to get me that job, as I lack the experience to get me in the door.

Good luck, I am happy to to see teachers willing to come to Fl. MD's and teachers are hard to recruit in this area. Welcome to the Sunshine state.

Thanks everyone. "My home is in Ocala" does your neighbor that interviewed at Saddlewood teach currently? How does he or she like teaching in FL?

I sent you a PM.

The Teacher from NYC could not find full time, she subs (Business/Tech)... BUT the new neighbor is currently teaching 2nd or 3rd (I can not remember off the top of my head) in Orange County and is looking for something closer to home, now that she moved here to Ocala.

I want to continue my education once I move to Ocala. Where is the closest place to do that? I definetely want to earn my master's, and I am considering going after my doctorate after that. Do you know where most people from that area go? Also, do you have any idea if that is something the district will help me to pay for? Here in NJ, schools value education enough to help finance continuing ed. for teachers, and I am hoping it is the same there.
