I can answer that one... Pasha is the only shipper that guarantees your car will be shipped inside, and that delivers directly to Oahu, Maui, and Big Island docks. For Kauai your car will be barged from Honolulu.
Great tips and info. Cars really help being independent, but remember the congestion factors, as Honolulu is in the national top 5 cities after L A, for congestion. Great bus system too, but they use the same roadways. Of course, paying to park, is a factor to remember, on top of all else, at many residences and, destinations.
For a Honda Civic, with that low mileage, no question you should ship. Every other car here is a Honda and they are very much in demand. It's almost impossible to find a used Civic.
You can get awesome deals on used cars with over 40,000. That is considered high mileage in Oahu and people want to dump them. We bought two great cars in Hawaii, ending up shipping the BMW x3 back to the mainland because, even with shipping, it was much cheaper than trying to buy the same car off-island.
I just got my "permit" for our two vehicles. Permitting is when you keep your out-of-state tags until the current registration expires. $15.40 for the safety check, $5 for the permit which includes the big blue sticker on your rear bumper. Only Active Duty military can renew out-of-state plates to avoid the state taxes and fees. My Chevy PU from Alabama will run me $440 a year because they go by weight here, not value or age. I live and work in west Oahu, so the big truck is no problem for me, but in town that Civic will do you just fine.
Location: not sure, but there's a hell of a lot of water around here!

To pirate the hijacking, JN Automotive is the Lotus dealer for Hawaii. I sold my Elise a year ago, after sending who knows how many tourists to Budget to rent one. Suspect I'll burn in the HVA hell for that one....
Do tell! Okay you did tell. That's awesome! Might go grab one for the day!
when i used to live in waikiki, there was a guy that rented high end cars. there was often a Maserati parked on the street that everyone knew was a rental.
