How do the different communities in Ashburn (Ashburn Farm, Village, Broadlands, Brambleton) compare as far as community amenities go - I'm talking about library, pool, sports leagues for kids, gyms, community centers, etc. Do most of the communities include access to pools and gyms? How does that work?

Ashburn has the huge Ashburn sports complex (rec center) and If you live in Ashburn Village then your HOA covers membership. If not you have to pay a separate membership.

Most of the communities will all have outdoor pools and tennis courts to use and playgrounds etc...
City parks for everyone.

Sports leauges are avail for all usually run from the county (like soccer is Loudoun county youth soccer)
Library is run by Loudoun county public library sytem...open to all

Here is a website that might be helpful to you...Ashburn, VA Areas, Communities, and Neighborhoods

you can click on the communities to see the amenities each has and probably the HOA dues as well...

I like Brambleton the best, but I'm biased.

I can give you a quick rundown on Brambleton:

- closest library is Ashburn Library (a branch of Loudoun County Public Library)
- pools: two outdoor (more planned for future); one outdoor just for Summerfield condo residents
- sports leagues for kids: Brambleton Bettas swim team (plus whatever county/rec stuff is available to anyone - Ashburn Soccer/Loudoun Soccer/Eastern Loudoun Lacrosse/Ashburn Ice House youth hockey, etc.)
- gyms: no HOA-funded gym. Summerfield condos have a small fitness room. Sport and Health is opening a new facility in the Brambleton Town Center in June and every current household gets one free membership (plus spouse/partner for $10/month) for one year.
- community center: one main center (at the main pool; home to HOA staff) plus a smaller clubhouse at the smaller pool. Both are available for group and individual rental.
- parks: one large park plus several smaller pocket parks, playgrounds, and ponds. Large park has tennis courts and basketball court. Fishing (but no swimming or boats) allowed in ponds.

As you can see from the responses, most of the amenities are the same and some are covered by the county (Loudoun) not the communities themselves. Ashburn Village has the aforementioned sports pavilion.

The ones you named are the largest communities and there are some others like Belmont Country Club and then some smaller ones. The thing about the smaller ones is that they don't always offer rec centers or pools so you need to keep that in mind when choosing a development.

I think Ashburn Farm and Ashburn Village are the oldest, with Brambleton being the newest.
