Any advice on trying to commute from Warrenton/Northern Culpeper to Dumfries? Seems like it will be against traffic. But I've never done it. Thanks!

Kind of depends on exactly where you are. Also on the time of day. RT 28 to Manassas, right on RT 619 (Bristow Rd) to 234 to RT 1. But Rt 28 can be a pain with traffic when you get near Manassas.
17 to 95 South to Dumfries but of course everyone knows how bad 95 can be.
Where exactly are you coming from?

Not sure exactly, but the warrenton/fauquier/culpeper area. I know its not a sure thing with mapquest but from warrenton, it looks like you can take 605 to 28 and only on 28 for 2 miles, then get on Aden Rd (646) to Bristow Rd then 234 for 8 miles. Does 28 back up before or after Nokesville going north?? Mapquest calls the trip from Warrenton 34 miles which is very doable. Thanks for the input!

From Warrenton then this is a good route. It generally doesn't back up from 605 to Fitzwater Dr. You'll turn right just past the 7-11 onto Fitzwater which dead ends on Aden. Turn right on Aden. All of the roads are 2 lanes until you reach 234 (Dumfries Rd)

Thanks a bunch. I'll try different routes during transition prior to bringing the family. This one looks like it has promise. Have a great day!
