My fiance's job is moving to Herndon in about a month. I am a teacher and we spent this weekend in VA for some of my interviews and apartment hunting. I am almost positive I am going to accept a job in Woodbridge. We found an apartment in Manassas Park and one in Centreville that we really like. I am not to worried about my commute south to Woodbridge, especially since I drove it Friday morning and did not have any problems. However I am still worried about his commute to Herndon. I hear 28 is bad and that is what he would take in both situations. Centreville adds some time to my drive, however not traffic...especially at 6:30 in the morning.

Does anyone have experience driving this route?

Is accepting a job in Woodbridge just going to be to far to compromise on location?

sounds pretty spot on. Centerville would make it easier for him although there would still be traffic to Herndon, if you could deal with the longer drive, but I don't think traffic will be a problem Centerville to Woodbridge.
