I will be moving to the DC area, possibly living in Alexandria or Arlington. My wife is nurse looking for work. Ideally, she’d like to be able to take the metro to work.

Where are some major hospitals near the metro either in DC or NOVA? She prefers working at much larger hospitals, so no need to list smaller hospitals, clinics, etc. (large children’s hospitals are fine)

Alexandria or Arlington hospitals (not necessarily near a metro station) would work also.

Thanks

Fairfax Hospital is not that far from the Dunn Lorin Station-she would still need to catch a bus from station that runs from it heading south on Gallows Road, where the hospital is.

Take a look at the metro map. Metro - Rail - Maps - Rail/Google Map .. There's a stop on the red line called Medical Center in Maryland. I think it's the National Navy Medical Center.

Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington is not right on the Metrorail line, but is pretty easy to access by Arlington Transit bus from the Ballston station on the Orange Line. (Distance-wise, I think it's only a few miles.)

51-52 Ballston-Virginia Hospital Ctr-East Falls Church

Inova Alexandria Hospital is also accessible by Metro bus (and probably DASH, Alexandria's bus system).

Inova Healthplex is right next to the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station. It has an emergency room (not just urgent care) on the first floor and doctors' offices on floors 2-5. It's not a full-scale hospital but might be worth looking into if she doesn't find what she wants elsewhere in light of this article in today's Washington Post:
