Depends on when you leave. Anything before 7am is pretty good, but from 7am-10am is bad. Then starts to pick up again around 3-6pm

28 is just a mess, but thats literally such a short mileage drive i am guessing no more than 20-30mins. sounds ridiculous i know, but 28 is a disaster. and what are regular business hours? 7-4 kinda deal.

Yeah, this is what I'm concerned about. Frustration sitting still for 20-30mins each way every day. Also wasting gas going no where. It may be close enough to bike on a nice day though.
Oh and yes regular business hours would be 7/8ish to 4/5ish.

If you think 20-30minutes commute each way is bad, Northern Virginia is NOT for you. The average commute time in NoVa has to be at least 45 minutes. My commute is 2.75 hours each way. It's worse than NYC here. Also you will like the traffic jams on Saturday. This place will be a true test of your patience. Also dont be doing those shady moves with your car thinking you will get ahead of the line and those NJ typical driving tactics. The cops are everywhere here and will ticket you here.

I lived in Centreville for 25 yrs..Get a good NOVA map. There are many side roads as well as residential roads that will avoid all of that traffic..Traffic can be a "nightmare" in that area, but like anything else, you will find a way around it. Good Luck...

Insane. How do you enjoy your home when you're gone almost 13 hours a day? Do you work 5 days a week?
I live in NJ now, so I'm used to traffic. I've always manage to move as close as possible to my jobs.

yeah 20-30 is not bad at all. i go 17 miles and it takes me an hour. only an 8th of a mile is on 95. i get on it, stay in the right and get right off....still an hour. I go through lake ridge, and lorton as much as i can through backroads....and it still is horrible. i got used to it. leave at 620 to be there by 730, get off at 4 be home by 5-515ish....17 miles my friend...thats it lol.

Hehe, when I had only read the title of the thread, I thought oh boy... What a short commute!! Some people might kill for the OP's commute
20 to 30 minutes is nothing! Turn on some music and enjoy the ride. Back in the late 90's, I drove 45 minutes one way for some crappy $6.50 an hour bank job! So for hubby to drive 45 minutes now for a 6 figure job... is nothing, he's not allowed to complain!
P.S. His original commute into DC use to be over 2 hrs one way.

20 to 30 minutes is nothing! Turn on some music and enjoy the ride. Back in the late 90's, I drove 45 minutes one way for some crappy $6.50 an hour bank job! So for hubby to drive 45 minutes now for a 6 figure job... is nothing, he's not allowed to complain!
