Any suggestions on good places to buy decent furniture? (sofa, chairs, accent tables, that type of thing) We have small children so we aren't looking for our dream furniture but not Wal-Mart furniture either. Any thoughts?

We have some nice expensive furniture from Thomasville and KinCaid...things we bought pre-children. (bedroom suit and dining room) and then we have our nice but inexpensive furniture post kids from Target and I have to say the Target stuff is very nice looking and I am shocked at how good the quality is. I don't know about getting a sofa from there, but our tv stand and accent tables are wonderful from there. For an inexpensive sofa we went to Belfort. We paid $1500 for a 4 part lounger with microfiber. Now, that isn't cheap but it is good quality, cleans well and will last a long time despite the kids spilling milk all over it every night, lol! If you want cheaper then maybe Ikea or even Room Store. Belfort does have a Basics store where you can get a similar couch to what I described for $900
Good luck!

Value City Furniture (Falls Church / Woodbridge) has a large selection of furniture and quality. You can find everything from cheaper "low-end" furniture to some nice, quality items at a good price.

The delivery and the customer service staff, now that is another story.

Craigslist is an awesome resource. But, if you want new, consider Costco (when they have their furniture show), Belfort furniture in Sterling/ Ashburn and Havertys at Dulles Town Center. We had had some decent experience with all these places.

I second Belfort. They have a huge selection and pretty decent prices. Also, you might want to try Greenfront in Manassas. It can be hit or miss, but the selection is always changing.

Belfort is good. We were also happy with purchases from 2 day furniture in Chantilly. I think it is now called Stanistoday.

IKEA. We just bought a nice 3 piece bedroom set for one of the kids for less than $400. We have accumulated a lot of IKEA furniture over the years. It's not bad looking and it's quite durable.
