I see a Male is thinking the same way, I was coming to post tonight.

Can anyone recommend somewhere to get a decent/affordable haircut? I don't want anything huge: a short cut cut (caucasian hair), I've done some Hair Cuttery cuts, they aren't horrible but nothing like I want. I used to go to a gal I liked but lost touch w/her and don't know where she is anymore.

I want something mostly wash-n-go, minimal hair product(s), no blow drying, etc. I'd like something more than a cut that a guy could carry off - like more spikey, etc. Thanks for any info.

Go to family owned salons. Fashion salons are the best. The women will do a great job on your hair, no matter what style you like to sport! Anne Welsh on N. Washington is good from what my friend told me.

Default where NOT to go

I too think prices are crazy here for hair care - I moved here from Washington state, but have lived in Ohio and even LA, and paying $60 for a haircut and $125 for highlights is nuts! However, don't just "go cheap" either - I went to Larry's Hair in Lake Ridge thinking I was getting a salon quality cut and dry for Hair Cuttery prices. They said it was $21 for a cut. After getting my hair washed by a heavy smoker who breathed foul breath all over me and being kept waiting for 30 minutes by the stylist, I got the worst haircut in my life. To add insult to injury, the stylist tried to convince me she normally charged $38, but would "only" charge me $30 since I told her not to bother blow drying it. What a rip-off!

I am sorry you had a bad experience at Larry's Hair. There is another salon called Kings and Queens Salon in the same shopping center. I have been seeing Patty F there for years and she is awesome. She cares for her clients and does a really good job. Give her a try.

Statements is also great. They just moved to Tackett's Mill. What I like about them is that they are a no-tip salon. But it is about $52 for a cut.

Dynasty Salon
7444 Little River Turnpike,
Annandale, VA 22003
(703) 256-4700

Sofia does my hair. I don't know if she does male hair. If she does, all I can tell you is that she is da best!

If she only does female hair, just ask for a recommendation.

Prices are reasonable. I pay $75 for cut and color. I imagine most of the $75 is for the color.

BTW this is not far from the Annandale-Alexandria line.

I just realized the salon brochure is sitting on mydesk. A haircut is $21.

Thanks again - I don't recall what I was talking about in my first post (I guess I posted right after a male did that was looking for a hair place).
