Cook Out, ranked among the nation's top regional fast food chains, plans to bring its menu of shakes, burgers and chicken to Northern Virginia.

The Thomasville, North Carolina-based company has filed plans for a new location at 8502 Centreville Road in Manassas Park, according to plans obtained from Construction Journal. The roughly 3,761-square foot building appears to have last been occupied by a now-shuttered Roy Rogers. The property, owned by Lohr Management Ltd and Orchard Corp., is assessed at about $1.6 million, according to Manassas Park city assessment records.

I've eaten at two in NC while visiting our daughter and was not impressed either time. The shake was very good but the food was just so-so at best.

So wish localities could woo more sit down family style restaurants. As I get older I come to like these fast food places more and more. I understand the benefits of them (cost/convenience and speed) but I prefer to be able to sit and enjoy the food a little more. Cook Out was blah and even Raising Cane's was just so so as well. I guess I am becoming my grandparents.

The only time I've ever had Cook-Out was when I was visiting my son at JMU. My son loved it for his first year there (I think he could walk from his dorm). I found it to be so-so and a few times I just didn't feel good after I ate there.

If you're looking at their choice of locations it's pretty clear they're aiming for a clientele that's not especially picky.
