I have friends interested in Dumfries or Triangle. I don't know a thing about that part of Nova. Any opinions on the area? Also, has anyone driven Hwy. 1 from Dumfries south to Fredericksburg? Is the road nice? My friends are thinking this would be a better way to drive a rented van than taking the 95.

Route 1 is a nightmare just like 95 - depending on the day and time of day it could take an hour to get to Fredericksburg from Dumfies. Dont worry they wont be going fast enough to make driving a van difficult.

Both areas are pretty much dumps for the most part. Some neighborhoods are newer and nice but are surrounded by section 8 (welfare) type areas that high in crack and Marijuana. I would stick with I95. Only take Rt.1 if 95 is at a standstill (which it tends to be). Tell your friends to consider moving to Lake Ridge or Montclair.
