My husband and I are moving to NoVA and the Reston area was recommended to us. I will be working in Chantilly and my husband is still looking for work. We are in our early 40s, no kids, 2 cats and would like to be near entertainment, shopping, walking trails and other outdoor activities. I've read some poor reviews about some of the apartment/condo communities so I would love to hear any suggestions and advice about recommended apt/condo communities and moving to Reston in general.

I read the Reston entries on apartmentratings website -- and you're right! There are so many negative things about ALL of the properties, it's kinda scary! Sometimes, I think the negative people are the ones most likely to comment.

I lived in Harbor Park for 3 years and really liked it. It's a Buzzoto property, and they also run St Johns Woods. I'd move back to Harbor Park, if I needed to live in Reston again. I would stay away from Chestnut Grove, Colvin Woods and Waterside. I enjoyed Reston, as it's close to walking trails and outdoor activities. I think you'll like the community.

Best of luck with the move.

I know people who rent condos in the Paramount at Reston town center and they are quite happy there (but it's private rentals, so I guess you take your chances with a private person as a landlord).

I responded to your message with a few ideas. I agree with the suggestion of Harbor Park or St. Johns Wood. There are also many condos available for rent. You may want to check in with a realtor if you decide to go that route as I'd expect any really good properties at a reasonable cost to move pretty quickly.
