Annandale VA: 35 houses planned for property now occupied by Campbell & Ferrara

9 acres, 35 SFHs - that includes land for roads and buffers, so the lots will be less than 1/4 acre each. the houses will be 2900 to 3100 sq feet. despites its location on the 29g and 29h express bus lines, the 29k local bus line and close to the 17M express bus line, and on little river tpke which I thought was SUPPOSED to be redeveloped as a complete street with walking and biking provision, the houses will have two car garages plus 2 additional spots per house.

This is a modification from the previous proposal to have fewer but larger SFHs, but with retail and offices on LRT. Its not clear to me if there is any commercial use in the new plan, though it appears not. There was an earlier denser plan that was rejected - I am not sure if that included townhouses or not.

That area is zoned to Weyanoke ES/Holmes MS/Annandale HS - though it is very close to TJ.

Putting aside other issues as to the optimal use of that site off Little River Turnpike, some people at Annandale HS were quite unhappy that FCPS recently redistricted a large single-family neighborhood to Woodson HS, so they might be pleased if 35 new single-family houses were built in the Annandale district. I would NOT expect the buyers to be primarily Korean.

It sounds like they want a pop up McMansion neighborhood! Geez, couldn't they design something better? Thanks for posting this.
