To the OP: I live somewhat near the Pentagon, and I think there is a slightly higher proportion of Republicans in the surrounding neighborhoods than in SOME other parts of Arlington. From what I can see, everyone gets along well, and when we don't, it's not because of politics :-).

Are you referring to S 23rd St and the various locations to watch televised football games, perchance? ;-)

No, and there are many Republicans who prefer cities and older suburbs with public transit options to cul de sacs in the exurbs.

Just wanted to clarify that by "lifestyle conservative" I did not mean "less frequently gay." Plenty of gays in N. Arlington. We've lived next door to a gay couple, and they were just as into quiet suburbia as the rest of us. As to cars, in both of the N. Arlington neighbordhoods I've lived in, every single adult on the block has had at least one car, and some have had more.

IMO, only fools discuss politics (or religion) with neighbors or other casual acquaintances.

That's why there's a curtain on the voting booth...
