We just relocated and are now trying to find good "services" in the area. We are technically in Vienna but are willing to travel to Fairfax or Tysons area.

Dentist- we (adults) don't have any real specific requirements... Just basics: professional, reasonable, & friendly... We have Federal Blue Cross Basic.

Tailor - basic hemming on nice dress pants, affordable but quality work.

Hair salon/stylist is for a woman... thus there are some specific requirements :
-someone who will really listen (& understand English)
-someone who is good with curly/wavy, thick hair
-someone who makes suggestions but isn't pushy (because I'm a chicken & have a hard time saying "NO, thanks that's not really what I want")
-affordable (I really don't want to spend any more than $45 total, which is apparently considered really cheap here for just a wash/cut/style? Is this impossible? I would travel a little further in any direction if it would help.)
-a friendly, "with it" place, but NOT where they look at you are hopelessly uncool/cheap because you don't want a million extra services, products, & coloring.
*If you can tell me about your experience, a person to ask for, how long you've trusted them, & price point I'd be forever thankful. I'm in desperate need of a haircut, but am scared & on a budget.

Thank you!!

I've made several recommendations on City Data for PR @Partners. I see Courtney and can get in and out for $45 (cut, wash, dry). They have several salons but I go to the one in Oakton, close to Vienna. Do a search on the web. I started out there when we moved here two years ago and have always been super happy with my cuts and color. Call the Oakton salon (open 7 days a week) and tell them what you are looking for. They can match you with a stylist. All new clients fill out a client form with specifics.

I'm not much help to your other questions. Good luck!

Thanks for your recommendation! I'd looked at online reviews for other PR @Partners locations & they were mixed or pretty low, but the Oakton one does look pretty promising & generally affordable.

Dentist: Dr. William Stringham, located near the intersection of route 50 and chain bridge road.

Went there to get half a crown on one of my molars since it broke due to decay. He kept me informed, answered my questions, and was very professional and nice throughout the process. Was relatively painless obviously and was back at work directly after the appointment and the next day. He seems to be very knowledgeable about what he was doing and also enthusiastic about his job in general, which is excellent.

Had a cleaning done there too, the staff did a good job.
