Been trying to research any info but no luck.. ANyone hear from any real estate "experts" or those in the know about how the new facilities on Seminary Road and out in Springfield near Costco (Geospatial intel agency) will affect local real estate? A big part ofme says it will spike local real estate prices because naturally people will want to live close to these new installations since there is NO metro or train access at or near these locations. Its ashame these beautiful buidling that are soon to be loaded with good paying jobs have to suffer at the lack of poor planning with no mass transit nearby. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I feel like I saw an article about this that concluded that people who are already living in the area (almost all of the new jobs are transferring locally) don't move when their jobs move, they just suffer through the new commute. It was interesting. Try google.

Don't think too many people can uproot and move closer than where they are now. Traffic on 7100 will be much worse. However, those who are qualified for retirement might decide to quit and thus open up new openings?

As for the Mark Center, most of those employees currently work at the Pentagon or Crystal City, so if they wanted an easier commute I think they would have already bought nearby.

The change in location will have the most impact on those who currently drive and don't wish to use public transport or don't have public transport near their homes - not that the additional drive to Mark versus Pentagon/CC will be burdensome, but the limited parking availability might mean some drivers can no longer do so.

Those who currently use public transport can continue to do so, but with an additional leg to their commute - the shuttle bus from VRE/Metrorail to Mark. I don't think that additional step will be enough to uproot families from their homes, schools, and neighborhood friends. In short, I do not foresee real estate prices around Seminary, Beauregard, and West End climbing merely due to the Mark Center.
