Not that I have specific answers on the area in and around Fairfax City ...but knowing your preferred price range as well as number of bedrooms and bathrooms would help us help you.

Also, is it correct to assume you'll be working in Fairfax City? The ability to live close to one's work can be a valued premium here, although other factors (budget, after-hours interests, family concerns) can affect where one chooses to live as well.

Price: $1000-$1500

Work is complicated. Wife has a job outside of Leesburg - I work in the city, DC. Trying to balance the commute. Fairfax seems to make sense.

I can say that unless you're dealing with a private owner, you'll be unlikely to find a place for less than $1200. $1500 would likely rate an upper-middle quality apt complex around that area.

Fairfax is a fair enough commute for each of you, I suppose. It would certainly help your own commute if you're willing and able to take the Metro into town.

Sent you a PM - but then saw your post. We pay about $1400 for rent at Camden (with the pet fee as well). I haven't taken it, but they have an hourly shuttle bus to the metro. It seems pretty regular to me!
