I am here and all I can say is 95 percent of my expierences here have been wonderful. As a "renter" I have not had to deal with the city. My son is in a nice school with loving, devoted and supportive teachers. His o/t from Allied is outstanding and his p-doc is wonderful. We have had outstanding activities at the library and have enjoyed almost every park in the city as well as Mcdade. Took the coal mining tour and had a blast.

We are blessed, my husband has a secure (rif protected) job at Tobyhanna and my pension is pretty good. So we do not have the same economic worries that many here in NEPA face. God forbid something did happen with hubbys position my pension could support our family.

Favortism towards polticos happens everywhere, "those" connected seem to come out ahead. It is my belief that these type of people end up paying for their actions somewhere else. That is what keeps me going.

BTW the former township I lived in was Brookhaven and it had a lovely nick name...CROOKHAVEN~

When I moved here I left Long Island behind. The attitude, the comparsions and the pace. I have always loved my hubby's home town of Scranton and embrace it for what it is.

MY eldest boy now lives here with us and I drive ( no lic. yet, he is terrified by what he saw in NY lol)him to Mt. Pocono 5 nights a week . Is it fun, no, but we are thankful he has employment and do what we have to do.

Could it be that just maybe people are starting to see the writing on the wall?

While the rest of the world is tightening its belt and the rest of the nation is on the floor in tears due to 50% hits on their retirements our mayor is going to borrow another $14,500,000 million and is spending like a drunken sailor.

While seniors are worried about how they are going to pay for heat and their medication at the same time our mayor is building a greenhouse with $150,000 of city funds and a $500,000 monument to 5 soldiers that are not even from our city, when the county just built a multi-million dollar veterans memorial at the courthouse IN SCRANTON.

While small cities are going belly up across the nation our mayor is going to hand us a record breaking budget.

While the big 3, wall st, banking industry, mortgage industries are all crashing around us our mayor has spent over $15,000,000 in new hires and consultants.

When is it going to end?

Who is going to bail us out when Doherty is finished putting the nails in Scrantons financial coffin?

The problem here is that you just don't seem to realize that we don't hate the city but hate the way it is being run into the ground. We hate the fact that our wage tax is tied for the highest in the state. We hate the fact that our debt service payment is $16,000,000 a year and growing.

I just love how I and those that might agree with me get critized by someone that doesn't even live in the city or on their own for that matter. Do you even have any idea what its like to balance a family budget in these times? Do you have any idea what families are going thru and getting ready to deal with this winter? Who is paying you heating bill Paul?

My intention when I moved to Scranton was not to hate it. Well, after 6 plus years, I like it much, much less then when I first moved here. There's nothing much here to offer me and the way Doherty has ran the city to the ground has not helped matters at all. Some people like it, others love it and yet others simply hate it. The reality is the city is in debt up to it's ears, public safety has been cut, crime is up and the ever present highest wage tax in PA is still there. And all is grand at Nay Aug.
