I have so many questions. I have been looking at the ads for LTS Builders. I like in Long Island now and I have about a 1hr 45 min commute from home to work. I wanted to know how long of a commute can I realistically expect? What are my commute options and how do most of you make it to work in the morning? I am looking at East Stroudsberg, Henryville and Bushkill. Can anyone suggest any good areas. What are good areas to look in? Thanks in advance.

I can tell you that Bushkill and Stroudsburg in general (Monroe County) are more congested than areas further north in Pike or Wayne County. However, if the commute to NYC is imperative, then I think you're looking in the right areas. I'm not sure where I read it, but I do recall a negative comment about LTS. There are a lot of builders in the area and some are real estate brokers and builders. The good thing about that is they can help you locate land and then build your house. Make sure you visit and check out a few builders before commiting to one. That's what we did and it paid to do our homework. We'll be building in Greentown in Pike County. Any questions, just let me know.

We are considering building as well. We are from Long Island, my husband is looking to still commute to NYC. We did find RGB Custom Builders and they have a good rating with the BBB..so it is also another builder to check out. We are just trying to locate the best region for us to raise our daughters while still being able to have my husband commute.

Either Monroe or Pike would be an excellent place to settle, especially if you commuting into NYC. Most people commute by either bus or carpool. The bus will take you right to the Port Authority or Wall Street. Buses take about 1 1/2 hours depending on weather and traffic, also about the same for driving in. As far as builders, LTS is the biggest regional builder in the area. My daughter and her husband did extensive research when choosing their builder and their choice was LTS. They built a beautiful home and have a great selection of homes to choose from. They also have a great reputation with the BBB. I think their representaive was named Jeff. He was able to work the mortgage payments backwards to show them what they could comfortably afford so that would not over extend themselves.
