I'm getting married next fall and I'm "hoping" key word I can get married by a Lake and rent a Lake Front house in the W-B area for my wedding for 100 if not more guests. It can not be too far away, less than 20 miles. (Again I'm reaching for the stars here, but one can hope!) Reason being, unfortunately my father is in the VA Nursing Home and can't travel far. It kills me seeing him like this, I need my dad there, and he's being so great paying for my wedding, this is the least I can do.

There is so many beautiful lakes up by me in Lackawanna/Wayne/Wyoming Co. Line area, but I can't ask him to travel that far in his condition.

Is Blakeslee that far from the VA? I know there is some lakes there there.
Anything in Bear Creek or Mountain Top? Thank god I have a year to look!

If anyone does have a house they want to rent out, do IM me! If you have pics too that would be wonderful!

I'm not too interested in Moon Lake, Lake Silkworth, Harvey's Lake unless I got a great deal, but nothing really beyond that point. Does anyone know anything about North Lake I think it's called?

Thank you!

K

My wife and I just got back from a couple weeks at Bear Lake with our girls. We got our vows renewed while we were out. Bear Lake has an association, but there's a lodge right at the tip of the peninsula that the homes are on that has decks, open grass, a dining area, etc. My guess is only the family/wedding party would be able to stay at the lodge, with the others driving in. I was on vacation , so I wasn't tightly clocking, but I'd guess it's about a half hour from the VA up 115 then turn at the flashing light next to Cosenza's Italian restaurant and take a right when it T's with Bear Lake Rd. The entrance is on the right a few miles up.

Second thought was a nice B&B I saw at Bear Creek right on the water there. It was large and in a beautiful spot over looking the lake there. I know someone said they do wedding there, and it's just off 115 so it would be a straight shot from Wilkes-Barre to get there. It's not much, but it's the leads I could offer. I hope your special day is filled with joy no matter where you end up!

I believe you are referencing the Bischwind Bed & Breakfast in Bear Creek.

I myself have long admired that beautiful setting, and it's only about 15-20 minutes down 115 from the VA.

My Mom and her man stayed at the Bischwind and loved it. They visited for Christmas and went there afterwards. In the morning I watched them blow a quick $100 at Mohegan Sun LOL. I will steer them clear of there this year Haha.

But Scranbarre...........The Bischwind doesn't match the posters directions so........now I wonder? Turning off of 115 by Cosenzas, doesn't seem to be that area.

I should mention that Nicks Lake House in/on Lake Harmony has an all glass room and outside decks looking out at the lake.
They do a very reasonable meal price......and a great buffet.
We had a fabulous shower there. The outside decks can also be set up for outdoors.... We had a gorgeous October day. It is beautiful in that special room.

I am almost possitive you have to be a property owner at Bear Lake to be able to have use of the lodge and all, no? ziaAirmac, do you own property there?

I'll have to research this at some point when I have a little bit of free time. Besides the Bischwind I don't know of any other bed & breakfasts on the lakefront near Bear Creek.
