My husband and I are looking at homes in Milford in the Gold Key area. We currently live in NY (Long Island) and are looking for a change of pace, more family time and less stress. He will be keeping his job and working remote so commuting for work wouldn’t be an issue. After speaking with a real estate agent we think this would be a great fit for us. I’m just looking for a bit more info on the area, specifically Gold Key. Would you say this is a good area to raise a family? Are there other kids in this area or is it mostly older people with summer homes? How is the crime? I grew up going to my grandparents summer home in Dingmans Ferry so I’m somewhat familiar with the area but haven’t been in about 13 years so obviously things have changed. I am aware it’s a drive to get to most things but wondering just how big of an adjustment this would be. Any info you could give would be great! Thanks!!

If your husband will be working remotely, why do you need to be near a shortcut (Dingman's Ferry Bridge) into New Jersey and Manhattan?

Hemlock Farms in Lord's Valley offers a ton of amenities and is gated and secured- important as there is larceny in the Poconos. A negative is that Hemlock Farms HOA fees are on the high side. IMO Wallenpaupack Area S.D. is better than Delaware Valley. The Delaware Valley School District keeps raising property taxes which has caused long term residents to move out of the district.

Technically we don’t however we still have a lot of family in NY so we will be visiting often. This isn’t a make or break just happens to be convenient. We were looking at Hemlock Farms however most of the houses we are looking at are over our price range.

Unless they're elderly and can't travel let them come out to visit instead....

Yeah I’m sure they will be. Is there a reason why you wouldn’t recommend Gold Key? Aside from it being in a HOA? I’m just looking for more info on Gold Key before we move forward or rule it out. Thanks!

I'm not familiar with that area but I'm definitely not a fan of HOA's because they're notoriously corrupt....
