Hello, I would like to learn more about this area . I have been driving by and it seems to be a kept up area with residents mowing lawns ,cleaning sidewalks etc. Is this an area where I could walk my dog at night, come home safely after eve shift( I am a small women),and most importantly could my 11 year old daughters play in front of the house safely? Is there a drug problem in the area? Is this area on the up or down swing? Not concerned about schools as children attended private school in Old Forge.

Thank you in advance for your responses , I look forward to all opinions

I too like the look of this area. I know there is an active community watch in the area, a fairly strong neighborhood association and a few police officers live around there. I believe it is safe. Maybe a west sider or two can chime in. I personally would not feel threatened coming home in the evening. Best of luck to you. As far as children playing out front, I am not the person to ask, I have my 12 year old son play in our fenced in backyard. I am overly cautious though when it comes to him.

Thank you both .We are looking at the 300 block of north hyde park .I believe it is 2 or 3 blocks off of Main ave. Yes I keep my 4 kids in the yard as well and would love to continue to do so,However the girls are pushing for some freedom and I guess it has to come sometime.
