Good day to all!

My wife and I have been contemplating on relocating to PA from NYC, but we are clueless on where we should begin to look. FYI-Our max on a home at this time is about 275k. What we find most important to us is a good school district and a short commute(90mins max) into NYC from PA by bus or train...some nearby recreational activities like restaurants, malls, golf..ect-would be nice to. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance to all!

Lou

What is your idea of a "short" commute?

We live in Lake Wallenpaupack and my husband commutes to NJ. Takes about an hour, but not a NY hour with traffic, just a smooth sail down 84. We lived in Westchester County and dealt with the traffic daily so he's happy with the current commute. Schools are good around here, as well as recreational things to do, but we are lacking in the shopping department. We drive 1/2 hour to Scranton to shop!

A smooth sail down 84 sounds great, but I do not drive so that wouldn't work for me. Is there public transportaion to NJ from your area? Moreover, what part of Jersey is he traveling to? Thanx!Lou

No public transportation, but I know some people that take vans to the city and other areas, guess they pay monthly. There is a train in Port Jervis NY that takes you straight to Penn Station $15 each way. He goes between Vernon NJ and Manhatten!

You could try the Forks/Easton area. The homes have come down a tad bit there right now. It is just over the border. There are buses
there at a park and ride one of the companies is Trans-bridge. It should be within your time frame. Up behind College Hill there are some new developments. A few of the resales might be under 300.

HI!

Milford, PA would be a wonderful area for you. You would be close to things but still have a small country feel.
The Pike County lake communities each have their own flavor so you'd have to look at each on individually so you could best select one that would fit you.
