As we consider moving to the F-M area, we are interested in the possibility of purchasing lakefront property (to build a house on) within 20 miles of Moorhead. I know we could work through a realtor, but oftentimes, better deals are available through private parties.

If you have lakefront property with a suitable home site, near enough to Moorhead that commuting is not unbearable, please PM me. No realtors, please.

Thanks.

There's not a whole lot of lakefront property within 20 miles of Moorhead. It's about 20 miles from Moorhead to Hawley, and that's about where the lakes start. There's some small lakes near Hawley and bigger lakes further east. I live east of Hawley a bit, and there's some lakefront property available around here, but you might get tired of the commute.

Hey, thanks. I wasn't sure how far away the lakes were, but I thought it was worth investigating. We'd probably be happier living closer to where we work, but since my spouse designs homes building is always in the back of our minds. Then again, what he can design and what we can afford are generally two different things!

I would suggest Detroit Lakes over Moorhead -- definitely.

F-M is about an hour drive down highway 10 to Detroit Lakes, there are alot of lakes in that area but highway 10 is kind of painful drive since you have to slow down to go through a bunch of littler towns.
