I'm a special education teacher in W. TX. I'm toying w/ the idea of relocating, but due to financial reasons, I need a school district that will pay relocation costs. It used to be all the rage in the 90's, but last job fair I went to, the recruiting schools looked at me like I was crazy. I've got kids, bills, animals, and a household to move. Help!!!

Ragingval2000, the only schools that I am aware of that pay relocation fees are the American schools on military bases located overseas. You might want to check the US government websites to see if there are any schools on military bases here that would pay your relocation expenses.

ND is notorious for low pay for teachers. Beware.

If teachers are paid so poorly, why are ND (property) taxes so high? I had assumed ND had a high-price school tax. No?

Taxes are high dpending on which city you live in. My parents live in a small town and pay $200 a year. Fargo's taxes are high because they have many new improvements (new schools/roads/utilities/etc..) ND is one of the bottom five states as far as teacher pay goes.

I am a elementary teacher without a job. I graduated in 2004 and can't find a job in eastern North Dakota....BEWARE!!! (and they pay teachers barely anything here...but special ed isn't too bad, but probably not what you are use to)

Another consideration is to search for ND school web sites. In Minot, special ed teachers are in demand. Minot AFB doesn't even have a special ed teacher. You would contact the Minot School district and from their they would lead you to the right spot.

Good luck getting a job, you'll need it!

I'm not trying to be negative, that's just the truth.

My wife graduated from UND in 2006. She had never planned to teach there, but due to the lack of employment opportunities, most of her classmates had to relocate to MN to get a job.

Pay is very low, especially in rural communities. However, the school systems are great and there is a lot of community support.

The good news is that you are in a subject that is in high demand. This will definately help you in finding a job. Like others have mentioned, try looking into Minot AFB.

These were posted on: https://onestop.jobsnd.com/

Learning Disabilities Teacher 1-12 Newburg United School District 54 NEWBURG $22,700.00 - $38,100.00 annually VOS
SLD Teacher DUNSEITH PUBLIC SCHOOL DUNSEITH N/A other VOS
Special Education Teacher ROLETTE PUBLIC SCHOOL ROLETTE $25,500.00 - $40,000.00 annually VOS

The location is north central North Dakota. Its true about the low pay, but like anything else, you need to weigh the +/- of moving anywhere. Low crime, lower property costs... etc. Also North Dakota has the highest high school graduation rate of any state in the USA. Hope this helps. Good luck on you move!

My gf's parents are teachers at the high schools in Minot. Her dad has been talking about the fact that they are going to be needing something like 6 teachers in the next few years, and how they have gotten absolutely next to no applications.

So if anyone here wants to be an english teacher in Minot, they'll be glad to get your application.
