I'm a married 60 year old moving to the Bismarck area and I'll be working in downtown Bismarck. Any suggestions for nearby small towns if I wanted to live nearby? Thanks.
If you want the convenience of Bismarck, but not live in Bismarck, the closest of course would be Mandan (18,000). Or as Corbay said, Lincoln. Lincoln is about a 10 minute drive to Bismarck during normal hours, but longer in the morning and at the end of the work day. Lincoln doesn't have much to offer, other than more affordable housing...a church, couple bars, bank, clinic and convenience store. But you are so close to Bismarck it doesn't matter. If you are okay with traveling 20-30 minutes...consider Wilton or New Salem. Both are on 4 lane interstate or 4 lane state highway. Both have schools, parks, gas stations, grocery store, etc...
