Were out Rain , Snow , Sleet , Blizzards , Heat Wave , chasing trains at night through the plains , sitting next to crossings , down into the depths of the subway system or getting our face winded blasted by a 150mph train...its a great hobby that always pays off...

I lived in a place like that once. Eventually you get used to it, and you barely even register it anymore. Until then, you might want to invest in some earplugs for when you sleep.

Or a loud fan, or any sort of background "white" noise. They have some decent machines at bed bath and beyond. I never hear them anymore. Good luck

LOL thanks for the suggestion but I am not interested in trains. The ones I rode in Japan were bullet trains and really quiet but other than that I can't stand it. but anyway, I have a cheap apartment and I guess I am getting what I am paying for!

Just to let everyone know, I have experienced the tain that passes Sawyer, ND too and it goes way too fast and honks it's horn all crazy too! A friend of mine lives right near the tracks.
