Im just curious?

I hear once near-empty areas have transformed into almost old west frontier boom towns. Lots of new people, and no housing. Probably a rough bunch too. On the other hand there is great wealth and development.

As a local share your experiences.

Well my pay went from 25k to 36k when the county initially adjusted for the boom so that was nice. But the cost of living shot up so much that I actually went backwards in disposable income. I am up to 42k now but I still have to watch my spending closely. Took me two years to find a house that I could afford and I had to move 14 miles out of Williston to find it. I could go on and on but the short story is that the boom has been a mixed bag, leaning more towards bad than good atm.

PS: Forgot to mention that the demographics suck now for single men. When I moved here you could actually go out and meet a decent single girl, now when you meet a single woman you end up asking yourself what is wrong with her that she isn't already taken....

Many towns have a problem or two with growth. Mostly those in power create the problems for a few to gain profit, no matter who gets in office. We have a different problem but still a torn is most old timers here including me. We get tons of retires here that demand this or that service and our cost of living has jumped sky high. We then move to your town.
