Can anyone tell me how the furniture outlets are in High Point and Hickory? Are there a lot of cost savings? Would it be worth the drive from Charlotte? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I think like anything else you need to shop around and price compare..as I stated in another post with this issue, I have many times ordered furniture from NC and sent here to NY...I do not recall the area in NC..I just got a copy of the phone book in the area and called around - most were very similar in price, the real difference were shipping costs...

I actually haven't been to the Hickory Mart, but I am definately going to check it out for price comps. If you go on to thier website you can order a brochure. It lists all the stores, tells you to wear very comfortable shoes, bring swatch colors etc. I got mine pretty quickly.

Thomasville has only 3 outlet stores and they are all in NC. The one I went to was in Welcome. Not the nicest area but I had to go. I found the bed I wanted after looking for 2 years! I wound up buying it here (in So Cal) when they were having a 50% off sale! I never got to set it up and I have it in a pod ready to ship back to NC! Anyways, the outlets are a little more than 1/2 off but by the time I would have had it shipped out here it turned out to be the same price. Those sales run in Oct/Nov and Aprilish.

If you do head out to Welcome and you are a NASCAR fan just down the street is RCR Racing. They have quite a few of Earnhardt's cars on display including his hauler!

Hope that helps a little.

Any idea if there is a variety of contemporary/modern furniture to select from?

wow you dusted off an old thread. If you are heading into the triad you need to go to greensboro downtown there is numerous of stores with contemporary modern furniture you are looking for. The style you are looking for will be very limited at these outlets. I think far as Thomasville try the outlet location in Thomasville especially labor day weekend if you can plan it like that for a visit due to they have a huge sale.
The outlet store at some point carries what the regular store has.
You can browse their different styles here Thomasville Furniture Collections
