We are considering relocating to NC. Not really married to any particular area of the state. We are looking for a builder that has an absolutely impeccable reputation.
Looking for a large executive home builder. Very custom and very upper end. I am not looking to be a pioneer for a small builder. I want someone who is established and has many, many homes under his belt.

Technically John Wieland and Orleans are not custom builders -- they have floor plans to choose from , and you can customize (often a lot) from the plans. There are many to choose from -- I can send you a custom home builders book if you would like -- just PM me. There are some great communities in the south Charlotte and Union County area for custom homes.
I do appreciate everyones answers and help with this. I have seen John Weilands website and they seem to present a nice product. I am just trying to do some homework now to keep from contacting thirty builders.
In the Triangle area Future Homes by Odell Thompson has been excellent. They built a quality home for us, and have been great to work with (even after moving in).
