I'm moving to the Ft. Bragg area in January and am lost in what city to live in. I'm moving from the WDC area and love the convenience of city life. I would like to live between Raleigh and Ft. Bragg; no more than 30 minute commute. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Check out the Southern Pines, Pinehurst area. Quiet little town and lots going on.

This is a link to the local paper, look at the Sandhills Scene section.

Also check out Sanford. We have many families here from Ft. Bragg, and Sanford is just "right sized" between small town vibe and larger city conveniences.

Anything between the Market House and McPhereson Church Road along/around Hay Street or Morganton Road. Those areas can be very expensive, but they are only about ten minutes from Fort Bragg.

For something more affordable, look at the southwestern suburbs of Fayetteville or eastern Hoke County. I think there are alot of new houses and apartments coming up over there.

Fayetteville has enough conveniences to live happily off of, but if you want to go to Raleigh, it's fifty minutes away.

You can go EAST of Fayetteville too--to the Eastover area of the county. Also about 10 minutes out from town, and with I-295, a quick route to Ft. Bragg.

Sanford, NC. Buffalo Lakes Road. Lots of subdivsions and rental properties. A great subdivsion is Peachtree Crossing. Gorgeous homes for sale and they also have some rental homes. There is a golf course just min away. Also, pope and Bragg are about 10-15 min. Totally worth it b/c Fayetteville and Hope Mills are so congested!!!

Another great place is Harnett County. It's about 30 minutes north of Fort Bragg. I am a military spouse and have been living up here for a year. We just recently moved from Raeford, and have also lived in Fayetteville.Harnett County has better school ratings, is close to Bragg but still far enough away to where you don't see "Joe" every where. Another plus is that you are closer to Raleigh, Cary, Apex, and all of the bigger cities to have better shopping, night life, or restaurants which is great!
