people who are nervous about nuclear power plants really need to educate themselves and examine their saftey records as compared to the pollution created by fossil fuel power generation. The redundant saftey systems designed into nuclear pwer plants make it virtually impossible for an accidental discharge of nuclear material to occur. As a construction electrician I would much rather work at a nuclear power plant than at a coal fired plant. As for the concern over nuclear waste research is now being done on the reenergizing of spent fuel so that it can be reused.
