Yes, for me, the features of PODS wouldn't justify the additional expense.

I can see how some folks would benefit from the convenience aspects but I just have too much stuff to move in terms of the house (3k sq.ft), and beyond that, a lot of big heavy stuff....a lot of it is classic cars, daily driver cars, an RV, shop equipment...engines...Ugh, I need an aspirin just thinking about it...

Try Broadway Express movers. You pack and unpack but they drive. If you go to the web page and choose "self-move estimates" you will be able to get a quote. They bring the truck trailer and park it while you load and then unload it. If you need help moving alot of times the drivers will help you if you slip them alittle money. Advice is free though....lol.

Our quote was for around $6900 to move from NE Mass. to Mebane.

We will see what it winds up being. I suffer the same problem as described by many here: 50-something, back ain't what it used to be.

We, too, will endure whatever the two cats will put us through. We plan on making the drive in one day.

Five days until blast-off!

Has anyone actually used Broadway Express? I just priced our move, and it would actually be cheaper than renting one and driving ourselves! I'm just wondering if they're a good company to use.

I know quite a few people that have used them with all good reviews. If anyone is looking to moving company reviews or what to watch for check out this webpage. URL removed

You could also do a search for reviews using google.

With PODS you are not suppose to put anything with an engine in them. We are using an enclosed carrier to have our classic cars sent back. So far we costed out 2 carriers and the one that Barrett Jackson uses was cheapest so far. We have 2 to ship back. Everything else will be driven back.

Aspirin??? I think I need something stiffer than aspirin to get through this without having a nervous breakdown.

Seems likes PODs are a bit pricey- just to get one is around $5K (based on feedback here). I do like the concept of having the ability to move stuff in over time. I assume the pods is simply the storage, you still have to drive it or provide your own drivers and unpackers at the destination?

I went to mover web-site and priced a door to door transportation (no pack/unpack) from Woburn, MA to Waxhaw,NC for around $1600 (doesn't seem to bad to me).

I'm leaning at not doing any driving and will hire some hands to help with the load/unload (and may be some packing).

Is the going rate for movers roughly $25/hr? One site recommended here (although I couldn't find it anymore) where you go and put in what you'd like to do (pack, unpack, self-drive, driver, etc.) I came up with $25/hr per person. I don't think that's unreasonable especially for pro movers, but just wanted to see if that's what most are paying.

THank You
