I know that generally speaking the further west you go the less diverse it gets (metro areas notwithstanding), but other than that, anyone have any info or impressions? For ex, is one area of Raleigh particularly more so or less so? How does RTP compare to say W-S or Charlotte (etc)? Thx
Raliegh-Durham and Charlotte are you going to be your most Diverse areas with a larger multicultural diversity.
Asheville will be your least Diverse as in larger cities due to the way the settlers and slave owners settled in this state most mountaineers could not afford slaves.
Well, near the city I would expect that, but what about the outlying areas, as I plan to venture in/very near the cities very little. Also what about W-S?
Yeah...........um that's what I'm trying to figure out or confirm, ie what areas OUTSIDE the cities are more (or less) diverse? I already know the more rural it gets the less diverse it (generally) gets. Thx
You can look up the racial makeup of a county or place at the State's website above. The figures are from the 2000 census, but at least give you some ideas.
W-S is 55% white, Charlotte 58%, Raliegh 63%, Durham 45%, Siler City, 51%.
Alamance county 71%, Chatham County 75%, Forsythe County 68%.
