They did tell them they were going to do this and they passed that ordinance......
If they had only made the Charlotte ordinance null & void there would have been a blip. They didn't stop with Charlotte & then they have made the idiotic statements concerning the bathroom portion of the law. These people clearly proved that they are blithering idiots. The Charlotte ordinance only stated that these people could use the bathrooms that they have already been using with no incidents.

Keeping the women & children safe is their tag line to this. That is bs. They are endangering women & children by forcing trans men into the ladies rooms if the trans men still have female plumbing. The trans men won't hurt women & children but if they're going in the ladies room what's to keep you out if you have a hankering to peep?

No, this is all on the right-wing religious pandering in Raleigh. Indiana got hit hard when they passed an anti-lgbt law & Gov Pence signed it. They may be dolts, but they knew that this would happen because of what happened in Indiana. They don't care. It doesn't effect them.

Let's see...

Charlotte passed a non-discrimination law.

Then PayPal announced their North Carolina expansion.

With me so far?

Then the legislature decided that the state was going to tell cities that it couldn't pass non-discrimination laws. Yes, yes, I know the official talking point is all about the bathrooms, but the state bill is far more expansive that that.

In response to that - not to Charlotte, but to the legislature decided that city affairs are better managed at the state level than at the city level - PayPal pulled out.

The cause-and-effect here is very simple.

The fact is that business likes non-discrimination laws. In particular, tech firms love them. They want the best and the brightest, and the best and the brightest in that field tend to be young people. Most of those young people are anti-discrimination - especially the gay ones. And attracting that young talent is made all the harder for those businesses when they do their business in a place that not only allows discrimination but goes out of its way to make sure that no cities are allowed to pass anti-discrimination laws. Young talent prefers not to live in regressive areas.

It's a shame. Charlotte was properly, wisely, and profitably managing its affairs. Then the legislature stepped in.

Certain people need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. That's on them. Period.

Just a thought. . .I wonder if people who want to sue for discrimination can also file a suit for failure to provide services since NC courts will longer provide that service for anyone.

God is a Catholic, that is why Villanova won. And the Pope visited them. Not enough Catholics in NC.

"New Jersey-based Braeburn Pharmaceuticals said it is "reevaluating our options based on the recent, unjust legislation" whether to build a $20 million manufacturing and research facility in Durham County."

"Lionsgate, the California-based entertainment company, had been lining up hotel and equipment rentals and hiring more than 100 workers in North Carolina, but decided to shoot its pilot episode for a comedy series in Canada instead, said Jennifer Irvine, a Charlotte production coordinator."

It's more like

1. Charlotte said a gender identity non discrim ordinance was imminent

2. The legislature said we gonna stop u

3. Charlotte did it anyway

4. They stopped em and made a blanket law for good measure

Here we are

Now what if Charlotte had the foreseight to understand the NCGA would do exactly what they said trans folk could go to their bathroom of choice, paypal would be here, tears wouldnt be shed, and all NC forums wouldn't be under constant HB2 spam from now till ????
