Heard this a lot several months ago by many NC State alum/fans...I wonder what their take is on this?

This alum thinks people who break laws should pay their debt to society, no matter what college or University they may have attended.

Which makes me very different from all the UNC folks I know who only agree with that statement when it applies to their collegiate adversaries... at least judging by the response to their own misdeeds...

Next? I mean, it's an easy question for most critical-thinkers.

UNC is corrupt and there is a whole cadre of people behind the scenes that covered it up for years and limited the damage when it was exposed.

"(CNN)The University of North Carolina will pay whistleblower Mary Willingham $335,000 to settle her lawsuit with the university, following the largest academic fraud scandal in NCAA history."

I'm neither a State or UNC alum, but after reading the article you linked I'd say the 2 cases aren't remotely comparable. UNC was engaged in ongoing, institutional wrongdoing. The other is a former State player, 2 decades removed from his time on campu,s with apparently no knowledge of his activities by the school.

and folks say it is only State fans obsessed with the goings-on at UNC.

If only lil ol TarheelNick had looked at the article linked, then he would know that NC State has taken steps to rid ourselves of Leak over the last 5 years.

11/2013: Despite NC State efforts, Leak continues contact with Pack players
10/2013: NC State issues no trespass letter to Eric Leak
11/2011: NCSU breaks ties with former athlete Leak

Though as noted, the two "cases" couldn't be more different. Is Robert Quinn, the jewelry dealer, officially persona non grata at UNC? Marvin Austin? Fats whatshisface?

False equivalence.
The university cut ties with Leak and officially prevents him from even setting foot on campus. These are efforts by a university that wants to prevent corruption and be public about divorcing itself from someone that they deem corrupt. To be equivalent, NC State would have been colluding with Leak and protecting him.
