I really don't understand why we don't have more than one energy provider in this area. We are stuck with them and we have no options, just like TWC. I am sick of paying more than $100/ month for my electric bill. I have an Energy Certified home and I sent that certificate to them and guess what.. it's saving me a whopping 4 cents every month.. 4 cents off the whole bill. What a rip off and they are still asking to increase the rates every year. Why not cut the salary the the CEO is getting or not give him bounse for one year to help us poor middle class.. I am just mad now and needed to vent this

I could never understand why there was not more protest when Duke bought Progress. We have always needed competition.

Duke Energy does not serve all of NC

For example, in Duke's home county Mecklenburg, Huntersville, Davidson, Cornelius, are served by the non-profit town owned power companies or the Energy United Electric Co-op. The latter is owned by the subscribers.

Would be nice if every town has two options to select from.. I live in Davidson but I don't have that option for Energy United. I called them and they said they don't and it will cost a lot to change that.

Very few places in the US have competition for residential electrical service.

They have agreed to pay 100% of the clean up cost of that spill.

I have been looking on my bill and I have no idea how much the rate is.. so I did the math myself (could be wrong) it's 10.31 cents per kw

My Energy United bill doesn't show the per kwh rate either...so you're paying a whole 1.6% more than me.

My bill averages $160/month, btw. Though it's not particularly efficient, with 18' ceiling in the family room.

I paid almost $300 on average per month when living in Greenville, NC with Pitt County Utilities (similar size to our current home). I was thrilled when I saw the drop at our home in Winston. lol
