It an annual for them, They have received approval increase every year since 2009 .

Here is 7.2 % from last year Duke Energy gets 7.2% rate increase in North Carolina - Charlotte Business Journal

This one in 2013 is 4.5% adding $7.60 to the bill.

That's what happens when you have a government enforced monopoly. Consumers need competition. Just like we need competition in healthcare.

This is the textbook example of a regressive fee structure if I've ever seen one, shamelessly gouging the people with the least ability to pay the most.

Does anyone know if the lawsuit filed by Roy Cooper will still allow them to raise the rates while the lawsuit is pending? Or do they also have some loophole that allows them to go ahead and raise the rates before the outcome is determined?
