I can find some information on pollution and ozone from the NC Air Quality page, but nothing really close to Boone.

For the Greensboro-Winston Salem-High Point area, they report recent history for ozone:

GOOD (under 50): 193 days
MODERATE (50-100): 165 days
UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS: 7 days
UNHEALTHY: 0 days
VERY UNHEALTHY: 0 days
HAZARDOUS: 0 days

For Hickory-Morganton-Lenoir, the results were:

GOOD (under 50): 196 days
MODERATE (50-100): 70 days
UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS: 0 days
UNHEALTHY: 0 days
VERY UNHEALTHY: 0 days
HAZARDOUS: 0 days

For other areas, follow this link: NCDENR - Division of Air Quality - Data Archives & Statistical Summaries

As one who is sensitive to ozone, I found this information helpful. I hope you do, too.

Here is a scary map of NC air quality. Red is worst, yellow is next to worst, green is average, light blue is good and dark blue is best. There is no blue in NC... Then again, there is no dark blue anywhere in the USA and very little light blue. So I guess it all is relative...

Right click on any image and select "Properties" and it will tell you where the image originated.

By choosing the root directory, US Air Quality Gradebook - from CreativeMethods.com, you can search the site for other information.
