i asked for that on Mother's Day when the kids were little (three kids under the age of 4), i asked their dad to give me a day to myself, without the kids.

he got mad.

i just wanted a day of quiet. by myself. to myself. take a nap. take a walk. sit by the lake in silence.

he wouldn't do it.
one of the reasons we are no longer married.

A friendly hug. Being widowed for 14 years and without family for many of them, I miss hugs terribly.

wow - doesn't he know that a lot of moms want this?

I know one gift I would like is just a couple of nights in a hotel - by myself.

Just watch TV, read online, order takeout

I have lots of pups and boy do they need attention. Some are senior and are on daily meds.

But then even spending one night away makes me worry.

The roommate would tell me that all will be okay and just relax. It would be hard.

We aren't much on giving gifts, but my son brought me a box of See's chocolates last Christmas. That was greatly appreciated, especially since they don't have a store anywhere near me, so it is something I can't buy for myself.

My family has given lottery tickets and that sounds like a fun idea up until one of those tickets is a big winner and all sorts of resentment ensues. Probably tear the family apart.

I would like three gifts...but they are all related.
A Toyota Tundra, an Airstream trailer to pull behind it (one of those new ones) and a gas card

Go big or go home, eh?

Sending you a virtual long-distance hug from Pittsburgh. Affectionate touch is so very important.

I'd love to have a pedicure while seated in one of those nice heated massage chairs--complete with hot stones and extra time spent rubbing my feet and calves. I love that part. Red nail polish, please.

If I couldn't have a pedicure, I also wouldn't mind having a manicure (buffed nails) with a good hand, finger, and forearm massage like the one I once had before a wedding.
