I'm going to one tomorrow but it's boring at night. It's kind of hard to goto parties alone aswell so really i'm just stuck in this boring apartment.

I thought by going to England, I was getting myself away from all the boredom but really it's just the same as being at home; very boring.

A club? Well that's a good start.

Again find a volunteer position that is at night.

Go to the gym and work out, lots of people there.

Get a part time job with evening hours.

Plenty of things to do but you have to take some initiative and DO them.

Fact: Where ever you move, there you are. IOW, your "problem" is you if you're an adult having such difficulty dealing with living on your own.

Well last night was a disaster. My flatmates below me partied until 4am making me miss my first class and sleep in until 10am..

These people have no respect for anyone, I can imagine i'm not the only one who didn't sleep

I am paying £1000 a month for this room so I expected better treatment. I don't mind them partying to 1am, I can cope with that but 4am on a weeknight..come on!

So, what have you done about the noise problem? What steps have you taken, other than posting your complaints all over C-D?

Bought those ear plugs yet? Tried listening to soothing music via ear buds when you hop into bed. Tried going to sleep before the noise really revs up (you may find the noise won't wake you once you're already asleep)?

Most importantly you really need to set your alarm and drag yourself up and out IN TIME for your first class, regardless of what time you actually got to sleep. You'll find yourself really behind the 8-ball if you miss too many classes. Or is that what you want... so that you can drag your sorry self back to Mummy and Daddy and say it just didn't work out?

You really can't expect others living around you to care how much your room is costing. Sorry to say, you're coming across as sounding very entitled.

I rang security but the students obviously didn't listen.

I only mentioned the room costs because my room is 3x the price of the houses around the university.

There is no excuse for anyone to be partying to 4am on a weeknight, stop trying to justify it. They are rude

No... you have to take your OWN steps to resolve the problem. Ear plugs, soothing music, etc. Complaining to security isn't going to make any difference, and will just make you very unpopular among the other residents.

Oh jeez... no I'm not saying it's okay. I wouldn't be too thrilled myself. However, you are but one person in a residential situation comprising lots of other people. Unless you can find others in your building who feel similarly to you, you are on a train to nowhere. So look for other solutions. Answer my questions. Tried the ear plugs, the soothing music? Tried anything else?
