Sadly, you are not your sisters (or her pets) keeper. You made every effort that you can think of and you should be commended for that.

Your sister needs to start paying attention to her own troubles. Idle threats and emotional blackmail towards you is unfair. You'll need to tell her the truth and she'll just have to deal with it.

Well, at least 4 of the 6 animals have been rescued. As for the other two...does your husband object to the fact that your sister has put the family through a lot and doesn't want to engage with their issues? Or is it the fact that they are special need dogs (or at least the one) or the fact that they aren't really house trained? Of course, all of these are valid reasons. However, maybe you can do as another suggested and get a dog run or a dog house outside and house them with you until she is released. I know your husband seems adamant but maybe this can be your ONE FAVOR for this decade...I'd hate to see the poor animals suffer...I know you're in a terrible spot. I'm so sorry.

Very sad, but not your problem. Your sister put herself in that situation, she will have to suffer the consequences. Im sure none of the dogs will end up in bad situations, the older ones may be put to sleep because they are older with health issues and housebreaking issues. Nearly impossible to find a home for animals like that.

Don't make her problem your problem.

I stopped reading once I realised that not only did your sister AND her husband get arrested but they are cat owners. Thats just too much bad stuff going on with them.

Live your life, let animal rescue take care of her animals

Senior dogs that are also special needs are virtually unadoptable. It really would be more compassionate to put it down.

It really sucks that the animals also have to suffer the consequences of their owners and your sister should've thought of that before messing around like that. Sorry, but you'll have to tell your sister that you tried... and the sooner she knows, the easier it'll be for her to handle it. Like others said, the killing herself comment is just drama to make you do something and feel bad either way.

Start a facebook thread -post their pictures and ask your friends to share. Put ads up on PetFinder.

Would your hubs be ok about taking them for just a short time? Eventually a spot will open up with a rescue.

I don't know what they did to end up in jail but it has to be bad enough to make them less than desirable pet owners IMO. I would be happy for the ones who were rehomed and accept the fates of the unadoptable. AND, when they get out of jail, tell them to never get pets again...obviously they don't have the stuff to be responsible for them, or themselves. I absolutely can't stand people who make others responsible for thing when they **** up.
