This is just out of curiosity, as I think this happens to a lot of people in high school. Have you all, in high school, ever had that aha! moment where you figure everything out. That moment where you realize who all the *******s are, who the genuinely kind people are, and what's actually important in life. Where you realize that being "popular" is not everything, and that the "popular" kids are not all-that.
I'm just wondering as I think this happens to a lot of high schoolers.
Some people have that figured out from the get-go, but then...that's why they're the "good guys", so unless you're on of them, yeah...maybe you don't figure it out until high school. It's why you don't see the "good guys" hanging out with the "bad guys". In light of the fact that "good guys" generally gravitate toward other "good guys", even in grade school, I'd say that some people are ahead of that high-school "enlightenment" period.
I started to figure out high school when i was in the 11th grade. I realize that most students in high school are idiots and i had nothing in common with them. The stuff that i know now would have help me alot when i was in high school. High school is so overrated in my book.

I guess this describes me. I never cared about what was popular in high school. I had my genuine friends most of whom were outside the school sphere. High school to me was most like a contract job. I knew I had to do it for X number of years and then it was over.

Same here. I treated everyone with respect unless they were being cruel to me or others. I knew I just had to get through the circus, learning everything as quickly and completely as possible and the teaching staff (most of them) were my "friends". I respected them and loved to learn. I enjoyed helping them, whenever possible and formed a lot of long term friendships with.....the TEACHERS.
Admittedly, there were a few students with whom I socialized, but they were "people watchers" as well, just there doing their jobs and trying to be as pleasant as possible about it. I don't know about you, but I never saw myself as one of "the kids", but that's how I saw most of the other students. It's kind of weird really.

Yes, I would describe my high school experience as like watching a long running television series. I never felt like I was one of the kids either.
Unfortunately it was college for me before I realized all the rights and wrongs of high school and relationships, real friends, versus being used, etc.
You know what really gets me these days though? Back in HS you would have groups of friends and certain groups never even talked to others. And now after college everyone in the grade are Facebook friends. How and why does this happen?!

I think, for a lot of people, the Aha! moment comes once high school is over, and everyone in the grade realizes how ridiculous they were at that time. Now becoming facebook friends should not negate all of the asinine things they did in high school, but it's at least something.
