I know the Christmas saying is, "It's always better to give than to receive." Now I'm pondering whether it was a good idea to give an old friend a gift, regardless of what she means to me, still.

Anybody here have old friends that shared a wondrous time with, but later had a falling out with, and you hardly talk or see each other? Could you bring yourself to getting them something for any occasion and how far are you willing to go?

Yup. Two of my friends that fall into that category (well, one not so much) received gifts this year. They were both thrilled.
