Yeah...pleasant valley would be good compromise..lagrange, beekman and hopewell are more newer construction larger homes....but again, they are away from the CITY of poughkeepsie...so they are more expensive too.
Pleasant valley has a nice mix of homes...but they are closer to the CITY of poughkeepsie via 55...but the good thing is that you picked the right school district.
If your looking for homes, I suggest the Rt.44 Corridor from Adams Fair Acre Farms out and head east towards Pleasant Valley. There are many homes in that area-Rochdale area has quite a few on and off 44. There are also homes in Pleasant Valley that would fit too.
The house I grew up in was built in the 1880's I believe, I loved it. It is in a neighborhood off of route 55, going towards Apple Valley, I think it's in Deerfield Acres, does anyone know this area?? It's on the corner of Howard & Vail roads. Howard road was named after a great Uncle of mine I love that area! The schools are excellent, Arlington district I believe, I've been gone for so long Good luck to you.
on the same topic, just to make sure I have all of my facts straight, when people talk about the arlington school district being a good school system in poughkeepsie, you guys mean the "Arlington Central School District" right? Or is there another Arlington school district (non central) to screw with those of us moving from out of state? Though, as a note, I'm not actually sure we'll end up in Poughkeepsie or not, but there looks to be a good job @ Vassar for next year so I'm doing a bit of cyber scouting ahead... For the record, Let me say I'm incredibly jealous of the availability of FIOS (verizon super fast net access) in Poughkeepsie (sorry, I suffer from bandwidth envy ) Thanks!
